8 Ways to Relax in Your New Home. Moving house is said to be one of the most stressful times in a person’s life, especially if you are moving with kids. In honour of National Stress Awareness Day (NSAD) we have gathered a small list of things you can do in your new home to help you relax and de-stress.

How to relax in a new home infographic

1. Have a bath

There is nothing better than soaking in a warm bubble bath after a long working day. Put some candles around your tub to help you de-stress and let your muscles relax. Check out these tips on how to make the most of your bath!

2. Listen to music

Whatever your mood, you can bet there’s a song that’s just perfect for the way you are feeling. Music can work wonders and have a magical effect on your mind and body so, when you are feeling stressed, why not chuck on some of your favourite tracks? You could even have a personal dance party while you’re at it…

3. Read a book

Reading can be very theraputic for some people, enabling them to use their imagination, get lost in the story and forget about whatever it was that stressed them in the first place. So, if you are ever in need of a little R&R, why not curl up with a book and let your troubles disappear among the pages?

4. Potter around in your new garden

Having just moved house, you have probably been more focused on getting the inside of your home to look spick and span than sorting out the weeds in your garden. However, a bit of fresh air can work wonders and help clear your mind, so why not whip out the watering can and show your garden a bit of TLC?

5. Play a game with the kids

Spending time with your children is bound to relieve some of that work-related stress. Try playing a board game or, even better, why not have a game of ‘hide & seek’ in your new house? Go on, unleash your inner child!

6. Get busy in your new kitchen

Fancy yourself as the next Jamie Oliver or Nigella Lawson? Then why not cut stress by chopping food? Cooking or baking can do wonders after a long day in the office; all those herbs and spices act as aromatherapy, and chopping is a certain way to relieve stress.

7. Start painting your new bedroom

Decorating your new bedroom? Try painting it blue. The blue end of the spectrum has been proven to have a calming effect that helps you to unwind and relax, especially at night.

8. Take a power nap

Do you get home from work and feel drained and exhausted? Why not try having a power nap? These short sleeps can lower stress, boost energy and increase productivity, so check out this post on how to nap for maximum effectiveness.
