How to experiment with colour. If there is a room in the house where you should experiment with colour, then it’s definitely your childrens’ bedrooms. Kids love colour and are attracted to bright and bold rooms, so why not make their room reflective of this? Here are some of our tips on how to experiment creatively with colour and inject the perfect balance into your kids’ rooms:

1. Paint the perfect mural
What child does not dream of having an amazing scene painted on their bedroom wall, transforming their room into a jungle, another galaxy, or a scene from their favourite film? A mural is a great way to use different colours and create something that is creative and eyecatching.

2. Don’t be afraid of black and white
Many parents think that painting their children’s room either black or white is a bad idea. This is because they believe white will get dirty easily, but they don’t want their child living in a dark room. Used in the right way, however, black and white can act as the perfect canvas for injecting colour. Try experimenting with giving your child coloured stickers or coloured chalk, as this will allow them to unleash their creativity.

3. One wall says it all
A lot of the time parents make the mistake of painting every single wall of their kids’ bedroom a bright colour. This can often be a bit overwhelming and claustrophobic; sometimes picking one wall and making it a feature is all you really need!

5. Use complementary colours
If you can’t seem to decide on a single colour to paint your kids bedroom, then why not pick a few that complement each other? This can be a nice, subtle way to make the room feel brighter and more balanced.
Much as you might want to paint the room bright yellow, it is always a good idea to speak to your kids and let them have a say on on what colours they like. Perhaps even let them help you pick out the paints. This is important as it will make them feel more comfortable in their room and feel that they have had an input into the decorating process.
