When is the ideal time to move house? We all know that moving house can be a stressful experience, but is there a time of year that is better to pack up than others? Well here are some key factors that you might want to consider before making this decision:
1. When are removal companies at their busiest?
Usually the best time for scheduling a move is either in the spring or autumn, when removal companies are not so busy or charging their highest rates. We would also suggest avoiding weekends and the summer if you can help it.
2. What about the kids?
If you are moving house with children, then it is always a good idea to work around the school calendar to avoid academic disruption. Early in the summer holidays would be the perfect time, as kids have finished one school year and can begin the next with a fresh start. It is important to recognise that your children may find moving house more difficult than you might suspect, however.
3. Is it too close to Christmas?
If you can avoid moving around the Christmas and New Year period, then please do. Christmas is already a stressful time, what with trying to finish your Christmas shopping, and you really do not want to add packing up your house to the agenda.
