Facebook users beware! Privacy and background checks.Look out for what will be coming to the UK soon. If you’re one of those people who hasn’t bothered to figure out how to crank up those Facebook privacy settings then maybe this will convince you to do so.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has given approval to the Social Intelligence Corp which has archives of files on Facebook users’ posts as part of a background-checking service reports
The FTC says Social Intelligence complies with the Fair Credit Reporting Act which is the same set of rules that keeps your credit records for seven years.
So next time you go posting photos of that drunken night with your pals remember even if you delete an hour later there’s a good chance it will sit in your file for the next seven years. This could lead to prospective employers moving on to the next person. I don’t think we’ve heard the end of this story……………
